Unctad X to weigh development strategy for a new century
THE tenth session of the UN Conference on Trade & Development (Unctad), beginning in Bangkok from February 12 to 19, would weigh the development strategies for a new century even as it puts under critical scrutiny the responses to the perils as well as t he potential of globalisation.



Move to involve States in export effort
DESCRIBING exports as the ``lifeline of the country'', Mr. Murasoli Maran, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, said here today that the Ministry was now working on a strategy paper to involve the States in export promotion in a bigger way.

CII strategy to minimise excise disputes
STRIKING a note of concern on the mounting cases of disputes and litigation arising in the field of excise, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has suggested a six-fold strategy to reduce them.

Urban water supply and sanitation
THE World Bank and the Ministry of Urban Development will jointly organise a seminar on private participation in urban water supply and sanitation here from February 7 to 8 to address the possibility of private operators and private and public investors financing system expansions and extensions.
