Press Trust of India

NEW DELHI, Feb. 4

A PORTAL called `Indiacar.com', which will provide a virtual market for all auto-related services including buying and selling of cars and two-wheelers, parts, accessories and finance, has been launched.

``We have already tied up with 500 dealers throughout the country covering the total passenger car market and are aiming at creating a massive countrywide network of automobile dealers and financiers,'' the promoter of Indiacar.com, Mr. Ashwin Sanghi, sa id in a statement here.

The portal will allow potential auto buyers to ask for quotations from dealers over the Internet, he said, adding that the concept was popular in the US where 22 per cent of the total new car sales were through such Web sites.

A potential customer can surf the photo gallery of the site where all the Indian car models are displayed with detailed write-ups, technical specifications, prices and reviews of each model.

The information will be backed by enquiry forms and a list of dealers for a given car in a city and any enquiry by the buyer will be automatically e-mailed to all the concerned dealers, he said, adding that Indiacar.com is adding individual home pages fo r each dealer.
